Tips Menggunakan AirBnB

My First AirBnB Experience!

That, on the picture, was our welcome card to our first AirBnB guest. We were so excited and nervous at the same time. We made sure everything was in place, the bed was made up, the water jug was full, and the travel guides were displayed in the shelf. We had the air conditioner fixed just the day before, hopefully it doesn’t leak again. Okay, let’s see what else.

“Do you think Sameer would prefer peanut butter or chocolate spread to go with his bread?” I phoned Diyan who was at work, as I was shopping at the supermarket across our place. “Or orange?”

A RECOMMENDED GUEST HOUSE IN MALACCA, GALILEO GUEST HOUSE

With our very limited time and budget, it was quite hard to find an accommodation that could fill our needs. Located in the heart of the Malacca city, affordable, clean and comfy. I wanted to go back to Puri, where I stayed in Malacca a few years ago, or Hangout Hotel, a branch of the hostel I've stayed in Singapore with my family, but they were all full-booked. Diyan patiently scrolled down the findings in Hotels.com and we finally fell for Galileo Guest House.

Galileo Guest House was located on Jalan Hang Kasturi, the room was about USD 30/night. The facility was worth more than that, I tell ya. There was a set of desktop computer in our room, the first time I've ever experienced in my traveling years! It's free for us to use, also with a good LAN connection and wifi for our mobiles.

INTRODUCING: HANOI, THE CAPITAL CITY OF VIETNAM

We finally got to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, in Oct, 2009. And this is the beginning of our story in Vietnam..

At 6.30 AM we were already sitting pretty in the AirAsia plane that would take us to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. The 3,5 hr flight gave us time to catch some more z’s, thank God.

Landing smoothly on the Noi Banh International Airport, we were surprised to see how .. umm.. plain, the airport is. Finally, a foreign international airport that makes our Soekarno Hatta airport doesn’t look so bad :P

Places to go in Hong Kong

Something happened on the way to Hong Kong

-->

Our ferry to Hong Kong island was scheduled to leave at 5 pm from Taipa Ferry Terminal, Macau. When purchasing the tickets, the lady at the counter asked us in which part of Hong Kong our hotel was located. We forgot and our notes was kept too deep in our bags, so we – and she – just assumed that it’s in Hong Kong island. That’s why we bought the tickets to ferry that leaves from Taipa to Shun Tak Centre in Central, Hong Kong island. (If you’re going to Kowloon area, which is Hong Kong’s part that’s located in the continent, you’re supposed to get on the ferry that will take you to China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Tsa Shui).

A Night At The Venetian Macau

The Venetian Macao – one of my few 5 star hotel experiences

-->

We arrived at the West Lobby of The Venetian at 6-ish PM. The lobby was quite crowded. It was Saturday night in the Chinese New Year holiday season, no wonder.

We came to the high end palace as our usual semi-backpacker selves, still wishing we had warmer coats and probably long-johns on. The lobby was warm enough, but cool breeze would blow in to the room each time people went in and out of the entrance.

The receptionist spoke English fluidly with rather hard to understand accent, so several times we had to ask him to repeat what he was saying.

Getting Lost in Macau

GETTING LOST IN MACAU...
IN DIRECTION AND TRANSLATION

The Start of Our 12-Day Trip!

Woohoow.., another long trip I’ve accomplished. 12 days of going abroad, 4 countries and 5 cities. From Jakarta to Macau to Hong Kong to Guangzhou to Shenzhen to Bangkok and back to Jakarta. Only the two of us, Renny and I.
-->
Usually I blog about my trips as a whole trip, but after failing to do so for my Vietnam-Cambodia trip, I realized that it’s almost impossible nowadays, so I’m writing it in parts. Here it goes.
